Centre for Advanced Manufacturing : Now takes shape in Baramati

Bharat Forge Limited, the flagship company of the USD 2.1 billion Kalyani Group and a leading global supplier of forged and machined components, today laid the foundation stone for its new plant - Centre for Advanced Manufa cturing, being set up at Baramati.

Having created a leadership position as an innovative engineering company in the automotive space, Bharat Forge is now actively pursuing new growth & high technology areas such as Aerospace, Marine & Rail, Power, Mining & Construction Equipment., etc.

Set in Baramati, the Bharat Forge - Centre for Advanced Manufacturing, a state - of - the - art, world class facility will manufacture high technology, highly engineered critical & safety components for these industries. Large crankshafts for marine & power, landing gear, engine and structural parts for aircrafts & helicopters, connecting rods for locomotives and equalizer bars & spindles and other heavy products for construction machines are some of the components that will be manufactured at Baramati.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr B N Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd., said that the ‘Centre for Advanced Manufacturing’ that is being set up at Baramati is the first major project of our company that is located outside Pune.

As the economy grows at a rapid pace, we expect the demand from these core sector industries to grow phenomenally. Already leading global aircraft manufacturers have started identifying Indian companies from whom they intend to source high technology components. Bharat Forge intends to create state - of - the - art global scale capacity to capture a large part of this lucrative opportunity, he added.

With an investment of Rs.350 crores, the Baramati plant will have a forging capacity of 30,000 MT p.a. and will manufacture 100,000 machined crankshafts in the first phase. Spread over 100 acres of land, this globally focused manufacturing facility will employ a talent pool of over 1200 highly skilled engineers & professionals.

At a function held in Baramati, Shri Sharadchandraji Pawar, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, unveiled the plaque to mark the foundation laying ceremony. Shri Ajitdada Pawar Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources, Command Area Development and Water Supply & Sanitation, Government of Maharashtra, graced the occasion.
